S24 Ep.21: Nia's Bright Idea

THESE ARE SOLEY MY OPINIONS AND ARE NOT INFLUENCED FROM THE THOMAS & FRIENDS FANBASE

NIA'S BRIGHT IDEA
Written by
Camille Ucan &
Rose Johnson

Directed by
Ian Cherry

Produced by
Tracy Blagdon (Jam Filled)
Ian McCue (HIT/Mattel)

Plot
Nia uses what she learns about lighthouses to suggest covering a big wheel in Christmas lights, so that Harold can see where he's going in a storm.

Air Date
12/07/20 - AUS

I thought with this episode and Cleo's snow episode being Christmas themed, ABC Australia would be holding back those two episodes for December as part of their Christmas lineup, like they did with 'Kangaroo Christmas' back in 2018, although I think with S24 airing around June/July it would be a while since December is, as writing this review, nearly five months away. So I was a bit surprised. Anyway with the episode itself, I think it was good that Nia is learning new things about Sodor like a lighthouse but I kinda wish Nia went through some conflict into helping Harold maybe have her go through an idea that wasn't so clever in the end until she came up with a clever one which is using the Earl's giant wheel as a light beacon. I mean, the episode recaped 'Blown Away' as an example of the moral that the episode was giving but Skiff went through conflict which is him feeling belittled by Duck and Oliver, unintentionally of course, for being small. It's just my opinion, I feel that Nia needs to go through some conflict and the elephant episode earlier this season was a good example of that. She's a good character IMO with her cleverness but I feel more is needed to make her well rounded.
