S23 Ep.19: Laid Back Shane

THESE ARE SOLEY MY OPINIONS AND ARE NOT INFLUENCED BY THE THOMAS & FRIENDS FANBASE

LAID BACK SHANE
Written by
Camille Can & Rose Johnson

Directed by
Dianna Basso

Produced by
Ian McCue (HIT/Mattel)
Tracy Blagdon (Jam Filled)

Air Date
4/11/19 - AUS

Plot
Shane has too much fun to stop and refuel until he runs out of coal
and is stranded in the desert.

Another international episode that I thought was good. It's nice to see Shane with more of a rounded personality with him being assumptious and stubborn. To me the episode is up there with the likes of 'Crowning Around' where it's more focused on the international character rather than Thomas and I still think that's how the series should go.

If there's one bit of criticism that I will give to the episode and that is the title. I think it would've worked better regarding the situation that Shane was in. Which was him running out of coal. There had been some titles that ilovetrains323 on twitter had suggested such as 'Shane's Coal-lamity' and Streak Smergle had suggested 'Hot and Coaled'. I think these titles actually would actually work more as laid back is more for being calm and easy whereas being assumptious and stubborn is not.

I like how the writers had nailed with the fantasy sequence as it fits right in with the situation like with Rajiv's fantasy of him showing off his crown in 'Crowning Around'.
